Fishman "Nashville Series"

Tech Tip:
This week we are going to talk about pickups: specifically, pickups for your resophonic guitar. A pickup can help with feedback problems that can be common with microphones, free up your mobility on stage, and give you a little extra boost in volume when you get into those loud jam sessions with too many banjo players. The Fishman Nashville Series is a piezo-ceramic pickup built into a pair of maple/ebony bridge inserts. The tone is amazingly natural and clear, and the pickup is hardly visible after installation. Installation requires a 1/2" hole in the endblock (centered below the tailpiece) to mount the 1/4" input jack. A safe way to get the job done is to start with a 3/16" hole then enlarge the hole with a reamer. You will also need to drill a 3/16" hole in the corner edge of the soundwell underneath the tailpiece so you can feed the wires into the body of the guitar and connect them to the jack. There are two points to solder, one for the lead and one for the ground. As with all pickup installation, professional installation is recommended. The Nashville Series Pickup is also designed to work with the Jerry Douglas Signature Aura Pedal to enhance your sound even more. The combination provides tone that "reso" players have been dreaming to achieve with a pickup. Two thumbs up for Fishman! | |
